Overbury's Folly

During this vacation, on a fine afternoon, we thought of taking our daughter to a cool place which is very near. Suggestion came that we could go to Overburry's Folly which is very close to town and is a nice seaside place. We reached the place by about 5pm and the place was not too crowded even though it was a Saturday evening during the April. The figure in the left shows the view from the watch tower.

The place is just less than a kilometer from Thalassery town near to the stadium. There are plenty of places for family to sit and enjoy the sunset. There is a watch tower also on to which one can climb and have an view of the Thalassery coast, Dharmadam island, Engineering college, Court etc. The figure on the right show the watch tower.

The authorities have done a good job in the beautification of the old Overburry's Folly which was suppose to be a picnic spot designed by one of judges during British India time.

The best time to visit this place is during the evening. This place is definitely one place which both the children and adults can look forward to breathe some fresh air and enjoy watching a nice sunset. There is also a coffee shop inside the park and the place is well lit in the night. The image on the left shows the walkway post sunset.

There is enough parking space also in front. The entrance is restricted with ticket. Altogether it's a nice place to hangout in the evenings. The Thalassery Fort is is also very near by.
